The front vertical zippered pocket is actually the entire front, both sides of the zip. You can easily slip a phone into the larger 5"x7" side. My phone is 3.5” x 6.5” and fits great, and I can slip chap-stick, folded money, lipstick and a tampon, lol, on the smaller side!
